PIP breast implants

I listened to a program on BBC radio 4 calls The Report and the subject the discussed were the defective breast implants made by PIP.

There is currently a large scandal following the death of a French woman from a rare form of cancer.

Although approved by TUV, the German regulating body,it appears that PIP were easily able to hide the fact that they were using industrial silicone instead of medical silicone. The reason they used industrial silicone was just to save money.

The French government have agreed to pay for the removal of all the PIP implants.
In England the government have agreed to pay for the removal of implants only woman who were given implants by the NHS.These were given to breast cancer patients. This leaves a lot of women who had the implant only for cosmetic reason in difficulty.

Doctors have known there were problems since 2005 and articles were published in medical journals as well as telling the MHRA,the English regulatory body, but nothing was done.

The British government wants the private clinics to pay for their removal. However a lots of tsmall clinics have already gone out of business.

In my opinion none of this should have happened. PIP acted illegally only for the money and also the clinics main aim is also money.

The Government should offer removal to everyone and get the money back as they do with NHS cost recovery scheme.
